Buzaniro Village
Buzaniro Village is buzzing with activity. Nestled deep in the steep hills of southwestern Uganda, the concept of water at one’s doorstep and the opportunity to create a better future has brought renewed hope and excitement.
The people of Buzaniro work long hard hours in the field and struggle to support their families. Malnutrition rates are high, particularly due to lack of protein, and families struggle to afford school uniforms and supplies for their children. Parents dream of having enough food for their families, sending their children to college and having electricity in their homes.
The Dream Village Project identified 60 of the most vulnerable families in Buzaniro. These families have dedicated themselves to spending thousands of hours working side-by-side with Go Organic Africa to build water harvesting systems, vegetable gardens and rabbit hutches. Already they are seeing results with health improving, more children regularly attending school and economic opportunity improving.
Ultimately, we plan to empower over 200 families in Buzaniro, making it a model for other villages to follow. As one village elder proudly stated, “We hope that the whole district will come here and learn from us.”
