Walking for Water: Students Changing Lives!

On Friday, October 4th, students from Seven Arrows Elementary School in Los Angeles are coming together to make a difference in the lives of fellow students in Buzarino, Uganda. They will walk in the shoes of their Ugandan friends by carrying 40-pound jerry cans, filled with water, just as children in Buzaniro do each day. It's more than a walk — it's a powerful lesson in empathy, hard work and global citizenship.

This summer, Go Organic Africa and the Buzaniro community together built rainwater harvesting tanks for 50 vulnerable families, so they no longer have to walk four hours up and down steep hills to collect water, enabling more children to attend school and mothers to better care for their children. But there’s still one more step: safe, drinkable water. Biosand filters purify the water, eliminating the need to boil it, reducing both deforestation and harmful carbon emissions. With these filters, we’re not just providing clean water — we’re protecting the planet for us all!
